This Smoked Lasagna is a rich, cheesy comfort food classic made with a hearty beef and pork meat sauce, creamy ricotta filling, and plenty of mozzarella, all cooked on the grill for a subtle wood-fired flavor. It’s an easy, crowd-pleasing meal that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day or any weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- Ricotta Mixture
- 16 oz ricotta cheese
- 4 oz freshly grated Parmesan Romano cheese
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 egg
- Heath Riles BBQ Parmesan Garlic Seasoning (to taste)
- Fresh cracked black pepper (to taste)
- Meat Sauce
- Olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- Heath Riles BBQ Beef Rub (to taste)
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Garlic (minced or chopped, to taste)
- 32 oz marinara sauce
- 12 oz pizza sauce
- Assembly
- Oven-ready lasagna noodles
- Freshly grated mozzarella cheese
- Extra Parmesan Romano (optional)
Directions
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, Parmesan Romano, basil, parsley, oregano, egg, Parmesan Garlic Seasoning, and black pepper until smooth. Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large pan. Add onion, carrots, and celery and cook until softened and onions are translucent.
- Add ground beef and ground pork. Let it brown, then break it up and season with Heath Riles Beef Rub, herbs, and garlic. Cook until fully browned.
- Stir in marinara sauce and pizza sauce. Mix well and simmer for a few minutes.
- Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Add noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, Parmesan, and more meat sauce. Repeat layers until the dish is full, finishing with sauce and cheese on top.
- Preheat grill or pellet smoker to 350°F. Cover lasagna with foil and cook for 30 minutes covered, then remove foil and cook for 30 more minutes uncovered.
- Remove from the grill and rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.
